The NYPD and the Times Square Business Improvement District (TS-BID) have issued a traffic alert for Times Square effective Dec. 7. Two events are expected to draw larger than average crowds to the area.

From 4 - 6 PM on Broadway between W. 42nd St. and W. 38th St., a large demonstration to “demand a fair recount in Florida” is expected to draw an estimated 10,000 people.

Police will keep one southbound lane on Broadway open to vehicular traffic.

A separate event coincides with the recount demonstration. Five hundred people will participate in a moving candle light prayer vigil that will take place from 5-7 PM; starting at the Covenant House at Eleventh Avenue and W. 41 St., this second group will make its way to the Recruitment Island at Broadway and W. 43 St.
