Previews of Charles Fuller's One Night… Delayed; Rutina Wesley Joins Cast

News   Previews of Charles Fuller's One Night… Delayed; Rutina Wesley Joins Cast

Previews of Charles Fuller’s One Night…, which were scheduled to begin Oct. 17 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, have been temporarily postponed because of a recent and unexpected death in playwright Fuller's family. Performances will now commence Nov. 6.

Opening night is now set for Nov. 20 at 7 PM; performances will continue through Dec. 15.

Because the new dates conflicted with an actor’s schedule, Rutina Wesley has joined the cast in the role of Alicia. The company also features Grantham Coleman, K.K. Moggie, Matthew Montelongo and Cortez Nance Jr.

"What happens to our servicemen and women when they come home?" press notes ask. "Exploring the lingering effects of trauma, injustice and one woman’s recompense, One Night… takes an unflinching look at what happens to women in the U.S. Armed Forces when their decision to serve exposes them to an unforeseen battle against their fellow soldiers." One Night… was commissioned by Cherry Lane Theatre.

Five percent of ticket proceeds will benefit IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America), the first and largest non-profit, non-partisan organization for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

The production will also feature scenic design by John McDermott; costume design by Jessica Jahn; lighting design by Nicole Pearce; sound design by Sean O’Halloran; and video design by Gil Sperling. The production manager is Eugenia Furneaux; the production stage manager is C. Renee Alexander; and the assistant stage manager is Kristin Pfeifer. Show times will be Tuesday at 7 PM, Thursday and Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.

Cherry Lane Theatre is located at 38 Commerce Street (three blocks south of Christopher Street, west of Seventh Avenue South). Tickets are now available and may be purchased by visiting www.cherrylanetheatre.org or by phoning Ovationtix at (866) 811-4111. Individual tickets are $66, $25 for patrons under 30 years old and theatre artists, $20 for military with valid ID, and $20 for students with valid ID.
