Together with a band of New York City musicians, they will perform songs from Yazbek’s albums and shows—“old, new and upcoming.” Yazbek recently completed primary work for a new stage project TBA.

Yazbek is the composer-lyricist of The Band’s Visit, which won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as Best Musical of 2017 and is headed for a Broadway transfer this fall. His previous credits include The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Boardwalk Empire, and the theme to TV’s Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego.

Cerveris has starred in ten Broadway shows including Fun Home (Tony Award) Assassins (Tony Award), Sweeney Todd, Evita, LoveMusik, Titanic, and The Who’s Tommy.

Yazbek told Playbill that what he admires most about Cerveris is ”mostly...that he's a musician. He's got time. This serves you as a singer and an actor. I liked him in Sweeney and in Fun Home but he’s always good.”

Asked about his artistic chemistry with Cerveris, Yazbek said, “We're both extremely handsome bald guys. We both enjoy a nice bowl of soup.”

As for his future projects, the composer said he has completed songs for a forthcoming solo album, but hasn't had time to record them. As for the The Band’s Visit transfer, he said, “I’m sure there will be enhancements made for Broadway [but] nothing that hurts the spirit and nature of the show.”
