Head Cal Pritner, the chairman of the University of Missouri's Department of Theatre since 1995, will retire Sept. 1. Noted for its MFA and professional acting programs, the Kansas City college will conduct a national search for Pritner's replacement.

Cal Pritner, the chairman of the University of Missouri's Department of Theatre since 1995, will retire Sept. 1. Noted for its MFA and professional acting programs, the Kansas City college will conduct a national search for Pritner's replacement. Pritner was the founding chairperson of the Illinois State University Department of Theatre and the founding artistic director of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival before joining UMKC.

Pritner created two one-man shows, Mark Twain: Traveling which he performed in Kansas City, New York City and Los Angeles, and For several Virtues Have I Liked Several Women, a study of Shakespeare's attitudes on women. Pritner's television roles include appearances in "Chicago Story," "The Awakening Land," HBO's "The Speck Murders," "The A Team," "Hunter" and "The Untouchables."
