Legendary producer Alexander H. Cohen will be the focus of a Jan. 28 panel held by the Drama Desk -- the association of New York theatre critics, editors and reporters. Theatre artist Sam Norkin will interview Cohen, who recently regaled audiences with stories of his career in his one person show, Star Billing .
In addition to producing the Tony Award for 20 years, Cohen has backed such famed Broadway shows as Beyond the Fringe, Angel Street and Richard Burton's Hamlet. His most recent show was The Herbal Bed, which had a short run last spring.
As a special attraction, the Broadway Grill will be displaying 38 drawings (spanning 58 years) by theatre cartoonist Sam Norkin -- all of them having to do with shows produced by Cohen. Norkin is currently compiling a second book of his drawings, this one dedicated to career overviews of major performers.
The event will take place from 1-3 PM, again at The Broadway Grill. Admission is $15 for members, $20 for non-members.
