Jason Alexander — who will star in the upcoming Los Angeles production of The Producers — makes a guest appearance on the Sept. 18 episode of the new "Twilight Zone" series.

Based on the famed series hosted by Rod Serling, the new version for the UPN network premieres at 9 PM ET on WOR-TV in the metropolitan area. Hosted by Forest Whitaker, the premiere episode of "Twilight Zone" features two stories: the first concerns a teenager and her family who move into a gated community, and the second features a hospital patient — portrayed by Alexander — who claims to be Death incarnate.

Best known for his role as George Constanza on the TV series "Seinfeld," Jason Alexander has performed in several Broadway productions, including Merrily We Roll Along, The Rink, Broadway Bound, Jerome Robbins' Broadway and Accomplice. He also headlined the Reprise! production of Promises, Promises, and he will play Max Bialystock in the L.A. production of The Producers, which begins performances at the Pantages Theatre on May 2, 2003.

In related news: Alexander will take part in the original cast reunion concert of Merrily We Roll Along, which is scheduled for Sept. 30 at the LaGuardia High School in Manhattan.
