The 8 PM reading will be held at the 92nd Street Y's Unterberg Poetry Center. Shepard, whose God of Hell was recently presented at San Francisco's Magic Theatre, will read from a new fictional piece. The subject of the piece, which will be published by Knopf in 2008, has yet to be announced. Ford will read from his new book, "The Lay of the Land," his first novel in a decade and the third in his Frank Bascombe trilogy. Shepard and Ford previously appeared together at the Poetry Center in 1997. Shepard also appeared in the 1991 film "Bright Angel," which was scripted by Ford.
On Broadway Sam Shepard has been represented by productions of Operation Sidewinder, Buried Child and True West. He also contributed to the long-running revue Oh! Calcutta!. Among his other plays are The Tooth of Crime, Curse of the Starving Class, Simpatico, Fool for Love, A Lie of the Mind and Eyes for Consuela. Buried Child won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979.
