Singer-songwriter Randy Newman will be recognized up and down the California coast on July 8 at 8 PM. Newman will present a live concert on July 8 just south of Los Angeles in Redondo Beach at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Simultaneously, just a bit further down the coast at the South Coast Repertory theatre, Newman will be represented on stage by his new musical, The Education of Randy Newman, which runs through July 9. Newman's songs include L.A.'s unofficial theme song, "I Love L.A.," "I Think It's Going to Rain Today" and "When Somebody Loved Me" (from "Toy Story II") and the hit "Short People." His film compositions include "Ragtime," "The Natural," "A Bug's Life" and the original "Toy Story." Tickets for the Redondo Beach concert range from $38.50 - $45.
