Randall Rapstine and Doug Budin will take a bizarre theatrical journey while impersonating twenty different characters -- ranging from an eight-year-old minimalist playwright to a celebrity-weary Beverly Hills plastic surgeon -- in Common Knowledge, their two-person show opening Aug. 24 (pushed up a week from the previously-announced Aug. 17) at the Lillian Theatre in Hollywood. It will run through Sept. 29.
Common Knowledge is a series of interwoven monologues and scenes that bring to life a gallery of quirky characters. Performed in a cabaret setting and told with a minimum amount of special effects, the plays are said to honor the comic tradition of Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner, with "a little Greater Tuna thrown in."
Rapstine has just wrapped "Gepetto" starring Drew Carey for the Walt Disney Company. He is a veteran L.A. stage actor and currently serves as the chair of the Met Theatre Acting Company.
Budin is also connected to the Met Theatre and was in the U.S. premiere of Temptation at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
The Lillian Theatre is located at 1086 N. Lillian Way. For tickets and information call (323) 960-8918. -- By Willard Manus
