David Mirvish, producer of the musical Jane Eyre, says that work is continuing and a revised version will hit the boards again soon -- possibly including the long-promised Broadway transfer. Details are still being worked out and should be available within a month or so. The revamped Eyre has a smaller cast and set, as well as stronger orchestration. Much of the work over this past year has been centered on the music and reshaping the show, but with its smaller look it should also be able to fit into more theatres, which was one hold-up in finding a New York house initially.
"There were only a few theatres we could fit into coming out of the 1,500 seat Royal Alexandra in Toronto, but now I think we're getting to where we wanted to be all along," says Mirvish. "Things got larger initially than we wanted because of the size of the Toronto house."
