Ben West, who served as the assistant director and dramaturg for the Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Old Acquaintance, adapted the musical that has a book by Max Shulman, music by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Carolyn Leigh.

UnsungMusicalsCo. Inc., for which West serves as artistic director, is currently planning a future Off-Broadway engagement of the new incarnation. West also directed the FringeNYC production that debuted last August.

Samuel French, Inc. is licensing the Fringe edition of the musical, which excised five musical numbers from the production and eliminated the ensemble and four major roles.

How Now, Dow Jones now employs a cast of eight and reinstates the songs "Don't Let a Good Thing Get Away," "Where You Are" and "Touch and Go," all of which were cut from the original Broadway production. Fran Minarik provides new musical arrangements. The show's standout hit was "Step to the Rear."
