The how-to guide, to be published by Hal Leonard Books, grew out of master classes Sanders teaches on how to approach auditioning for musicals that specifically require pop, rock, Motown, disco, R&B, folk and gospel styles of singing.

According to press notes, Sanders "teaches performers how to take the responsibility of researching, cutting, arranging and interpreting a rock song as a perfect opportunity to bring their own unique point of view to their audition pieces. Sheri is the first person to write a book on how to audition for these musicals, which are the most in-demand genre of musical theatre."

Some of Sanders' performance credits include Hair at Encores!; Caligula at New World Stages; Easterhouse, Secrets of Songwriting and Stone Soul Picnic: A Tribute to Laura Nyro at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center; and national tours of Fame and Urinetown, among others.
