Based on the Rosenberg espionage trials, Red was written by Marcus Stevens (book and lyrics) and Brian Lowdermilk (music and lyrics) and tries to answer the question: "Just how civil are liberties and how free is speech?" Stevens is a 2003 graduate of the Point Park College Conservatory of Performing Arts. Scott Wise, a faculty member at Point Park College, directs. Red will play the Pittsburgh theatre, Nov. 19-23 and Dec. 3-7; performance schedule is Wednesday through Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM.
Tickets to the musical are priced at $12 and $14 and are available by calling (412) 621-4445. The Pittsburgh Playhouse is located in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood. For more information visit www.ppc.edu/playhouse.
