Tazewell Thompson will direct a cast including Royce Johnson (Ralph), Clea Alsip (Veronica), Varin Ayala (Cousin Julio), Ben Cole (Jackie) and Vanessa Wasche (Victoria).

Motherf**ker with the Hat, about the tangled relationship between a former drug dealer and his girlfriend, will continue through Dec. 4. The play received critical acclaim upon its Broadway arrival last spring, with a cast that included Bobby Cannavale, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra, Yul Vazquez and Chris Rock. It ran for 140 performances.

The design team for the TheaterWorks production includes Donald Eastman (set design), Harry Nadal (costume design), Philip S. Rosenberg (lighting design) and Fabian Obispo (sound design).

According to TheaterWorks, "Struggles with addiction, friendship, love and the challenges of adulthood are at the center of the story. Jackie, a petty dealer is just out of prison and trying to stay clean. He's also still in love with his coke-addicted childhood sweetheart, Veronica. Ralph D. is Jackie's too smooth, slightly slippery sponsor married to the bitter, disaffected Victoria who, by the way, has the hots for Jackie! And then there's Julio, Jackie’s cousin… a stand-up, 'stand by me' kind of guy."

Guirgis' plays include Little Flower of East Orange, Jesus Hopped the A Train, In Arabia We'd All Be Kings, Our Lady Of 121st Street, Den Of Thieves and Dominica The Fat Ugly Ho.
