News Samuel L. Jackson Will Star in "The Samaritan" Samuel L. Jackson, who reportedly will play Martin Luther King, Jr. in The Mountaintop on Broadway this fall, has signed on to star in the "neo-noir thriller" "The Samaritan," according to deadline.com.

The film has begun shooting in Toronto and Rio de Janeiro. David Weaver directs, and Luke Kirby and Ruth Negga co-star.

Jackson will play Foley, a grifter who has spent 20 years in prison and is trying to escape his past, until he gets caught up in a young protégé's plans.

Jackson appeared on Broadway in The Piano Lesson. An Academy Award nominee for "Pulp Fiction," his other screen credits include "The Sunset Limited," the "Iron Man" films, "Freedomland," "Snakes on a Plane," the "Star Wars" prequels, "The Incredibles," "Unbreakable," "The Negotiator," "Jackie Brown," "Eve's Bayou" and "Jurassic Park," among others.
