News San Diego Venus Ends Run at The Fritz Feb. 26 Venus, by Suzan-Lori Parks, the current attraction at the Fritz Theatre in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, ends its run Feb. 26. Described as "the fantastical true story of an African woman's life as a side-show freak and medical experiment," Parks' play stars Suzanne Forbes as the legendary Venus Hottentot and "shows all comers the protests and denials, the horror and fascination" that surrounded her carnival career.

Venus, by Suzan-Lori Parks, the current attraction at the Fritz Theatre in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, ends its run Feb. 26. Described as "the fantastical true story of an African woman's life as a side-show freak and medical experiment," Parks' play stars Suzanne Forbes as the legendary Venus Hottentot and "shows all comers the protests and denials, the horror and fascination" that surrounded her carnival career.Others in the cast include David Kornbluth as the Baron Docteur, and Laura Bozanich, Eric George, Dave Lamb, Lori Lethcoe, Cherry Lorenzana, Betty Matthews, Gerard Maxwell, Jan Menke, Jeannine Torres and Keith E. Wright. Christopher Wylie is the director.
