Sandy Duncan wowed crowds and critics in Ft. Worth July 13-25, playing Roxie Hart in the national tour of Chicago, and after her run in Tulsa, OK, ends Aug. 1, she'll return to New York City to rehearse for her long-awaited Aug. 12 Broadway bow.
Duncan, the pixie-like actress who appeared in The Boyfriend and Peter Pan on Broadway, broke her foot in rehearsals in the spring, spoiling her chance to begin New York performances May 25. Now, she's rested and ready.
On stage with Duncan will be Ruthie Henshall as Velma and Marcia Lewis, the hit revival's original Matron Mama Morton, who returned to the New York production July 27.
The company also includes Brent Barrett as Billy, P.J. Benjamin as Amos and R. Bean as Mary Sunshine.
Charlotte d'Amboise's tenure as Roxie in New York began June 10 and will last to Aug. 11.
