Based on Hans Christian Andersen´s fairy tales, The Galoshes Man, a musical by Vladimir Capella, opened on January 22 at The Sesc Theatre Anchieta in Sao Paulo.

The Danish author wrote more than 150 stories for children which established him as one of the great authors of the world. Among his famous tales of fantasy are The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor´s New Clothes, The Snow Queen, and The Little Mermaid. His stories have been translated into more than 80 languages and have been the source of plays, ballets, films and works of sculpture and painting.

Vladimir Capella, who is also directing the play, was responsible for the musical hit Piramo and Tisbe that ran in Sao Paulo during 1995. Since then he has become a reference for musical productions devoted to young people in Brazil.

In The Galoshes Man, Capella uses visual effects and an outstanding visual language to show the life trajectory of a poor boy trying to find himself.

This super-production stars Turibio Raiz and Claudio Blat. Music by Dyonisio Moreno: Set and Scenery Design by J.C. Serroni. Performances on Thursday and Friday - 9PM; Saturday - 4PM,7PM. Tickets cost R$15,00. Information call 011 256 2281 at The Sesc Theatre in Sao Paulo.
