More than 180 Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway shows are offering discounts of up to 50 percent during a 60-day promotion titled "Passport to Off-Broadway."
The promotion includes long-running hits The Fantasticks and Grandma Sylvia's Funeral, as well as new productions such as Floyd Collins, Crossing the Rubicon and new shows coming to the New York Shakespeare Festival and Lincoln Center Theatre.
The promotion also offers adventurous theatregoers a chance to sample dozens of tiny, experimental off-off-Broadway theatres, Spanish-language theatres and children's theatres. Also included: opera and dance performances.
Discounts are offered via coupons in a 24-page tab, Hot Seats, published by the Alliance of Resident Theatres/ New York. The tab will be distributed at information booths in Grand Central Terminal, Penn Station, Port Authority Bus Terminal, the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau, New York City area Chase Manhattan Bank branches and the Delta Shuttle.
