News   Schoeffler Replaces Dixon in Paper Mill's She Loves Me Paul Schoeffler has replaced Ed Dixon in the role of the Headwaiter for the Paper Mill Playhouse's upcoming mounting of the Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick classic She Loves Me.

Dixon, according to a Paper Mill spokesperson, had to withdraw from the production due to a scheduling conflict with the reading of his Fanny Hill musical.

She Loves Me will mark the fourth Paper Mill production for Schoeffler, who has been seen at the New Jersey theatre in mountings of Nine, My Fair Lady and Maury Yeston's Phantom. Schoeffler's Broadway credits include Cyrano—The Musical, Victor/Victoria, Peter Pan and Nine.

As previously announced, the Paper Mill She Loves Me cast will feature George Dvorsky (Georg Nowack), Michele Ragusa (Amalia Balash), Nancy Anderson (Ilona Ritter), David Hess (Steven Kodaly), George S. Irving (Mr. Maraczek), Bill Bateman (Ladislav Sipos) and Bradford Anderson (Arpad Laszlo). Also in the company are Todd Adams, Leslie Becker, Ryan Dietz, Kelly Ebsary, Cecily Kate, Alisa Klein, Jean Marie, Mary Jo McConnell, Ed Romanoff, Todd Stern and Branch Woodman. She Loves Me will play the New Jersey theatre Oct. 27-Dec. 5.

Broadway singer-actor-dancer James Brennan, who mounted the Paper Mill production of Sound of Music, will direct here as well. The creative team also features Tom Helm (musical direction), Michael Anania (scenic design), Gail Baldoni (costume design), F. Mitchell Dana (lighting design) and Robert Edwards and Randy Hansen (sound design).

She Loves Me, based on a Miklos Laszlo play, boast such tunes as "Dear Friend," "Vanilla Ice Cream," "Will He Like Me?" and, of course, "She Loves Me." The original She Loves Me production opened at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre April 23, 1963, playing 302 performances before closing Jan. 11, 1964. Directed by Harold Prince — with musical staging by Carol Haney — the cast included Barbara Baxley, Jack Cassidy, Barbara Cook, Daniel Massey, Ludwig Donath, Nathaniel Frey and Ralph Williams. The 1993 revival for the Roundabout Theatre Company began life at the Criterion Center/Stage Right before transferring to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Directed by Scott Ellis with musical staging by Rob Marshall, the cast included Jonathan Freeman, Boyd Gaines, Brad Kane, Judy Kuhn, Sally Mayes, Howard McGillin, Lee Wilkof and Louis Zorich.
