Matthew Perry’s Theatreland debut in David Mamet’s Sexual Perversity in Chicago received mixed notices but full houses. Now, Schwimmer is gearing up to take on another reputable American dramatist, Neil LaBute. He’ll star in the world premiere of LaBute’s new play Some Girls. Schwimmer, whose previous theatre work includes co-founding Chicago’s Looking Glass Theater Company, will play a man who decides to visit four ex-girlfriends before agreeing to become engaged. The show will run at the Gielgud Theatre – following the current production of Don Carlos there — from May 24 (previews begin May 12) until August 13.
The show will play at the same time as another LaBute show. This Is How It Goes gets its U.K. premiere at the Donmar Warehouse beginning May 31. No casting has yet been announced, though Moises Kaufman is set to direct. That show is also about relationships – according to the Donmar’s website, it “dissects an inter-racial love triangle whilst questioning our notions of truth.”
