William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet surprised Hollywood the wedkend of Nov. 1-3 by grossing $11.1 million, making it the number one movie at the U.S. box office, Daily Variety reported. Director Baz Luhrman set the 1596 story in the mileu of 1996 drug wars in south Florida.
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes Paul Sorvino and John Leguizamo.
