Shaw Festival Theatre has anounced details of the 12th. annual boxing evening to be held Wednesday, April 16 in the Canadian Room of the Royal York Hotel, Toronto.

This novel approach to fundraising for the Shaw Festival was conceived by Artistic Director Christopher Newton and Board of Governors Chair, Allan Slaight in 1986. George Bernard Shaw was himself an enthusiastic amateur boxer, which gave rise to the idea.

More than 600 high-profile guests are expected for this black-tie evening. The evening includes a sumtuous meal, complimentary beverages from Inniskillin Wines, United Distillers of Canada and Niagara Falls Brewing Company. Also, Winston & Holmes supply cigars for all guests. This year they are flying in a specialist from Cuba to offer on-the-spot cigar rolling.
