Sheena Easton was a student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama when her first single, "Morning Train," became a #1 hit around the world in 1981. Then came the James Bond theme "For Your Eyes Only" and five other top-10 hits.

"To have that much success right away was both a blessing and a curse," says Easton, now playing Rizzo in the Broadway revival of Grease! "It gave me a wonderful international singing career, but I spent ten years traveling literally nonstop on tour buses and airplanes. There wasn't time to stop and think about acting."

Easton returned to her roots with a recurring role on TV's "Miami Vice" and spent a year touring with the late Raul Julia in Man of La Mancha. "I thought that the best way to learn the art and craft of acting was through theatre," says Easton, adding that working with Julia "was a real privilege. Everything he did came from the heart, which is why he was such a fine actor."

The Los Angeles-based actress, now the single mother of a 22-month-old son, Jake, and a seven-month-old daughter, Skylar, praises Grease! producers Barry and Fran Weissler for welcoming pop performers to Broadway without demanding a year-long commitment.

"They're renting me a lovely home in Connecticut, and I'm bringing my kids, my nanny and my dogs," she says. "They knew that I couldn't do this unless my children were comfortable, and we figured out how to accomplish that."-- By Kathy Henderson
