News Shelebration! A Tribute to the Works of Shel Silverstein Will Play SummerStage Aug. 6 Annabella Sciora, Melvin Van Peebles, Chloe Webb and Laurie Anderson will celebrate late author, poet and illustrator Shel Silverstein Aug. 6 in Central Park.

The 7 PM event will be presented on the main stage in Central Park as part of the SummerStage series. Doors open at 6 PM.

Hal Willner created Shelebration! A Tribute to the Works of Shel Silverstein, which honors the legacy of the darkly comic artist through music and readings, as well as debut material from Silverstein's forthcoming poetry collection, "Everything On It."

Also scheduled to appear are Martha Wainwright, Lou Reed, Shilpa Ray, Dan Zanes, Gary Lucas, Pat Dailey, Bobby Bare Jr., The Handsome Family, Janine Nichols, Kembra Pfahler, Duke McVinnie, Terry Adams, Roswell Rudd and Sally Timms of The Mekons. Additional artists are expected to join.

Silverstein's works include "The Giving Tree," "Lafcadio: The Lion Who Shot Back," "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and "A Light in the Attic."
