Signature Theatre will celebrate resident playwright and Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks at its upcoming gala on May 8. The event, which will be hosted by board chair Edward Norton, will be held at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

This year’s gala will also honor Delta Air Lines. Special guests will include Brandon J. Dirden, Michael McKean, Alicia Hall Moran, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Daniel J. Watts.

Parks is a 2002 Pulitzer Prize winner for her play Topdog/Underdog. Her 1996 play Venus is currently being revived at the Signature with direction by Lear deBessonet and will officially open May 15. The story chronicles the life of Saartjie Baartman, the unfortunate star of 19th century London’s freak-show circuit.
