The series is being produced and directed by David Staller, who is currently acting with Dana Ivey in Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession at the Irish Repertory Theatre. Dates stretching throughout 2006 and beyond will provide an airing of every sketch, full-length and one-act play by the playwright.

The project got underway Jan. 23 with Arms and the Man. Malcolm Gets, Marc Kudisch, Cynthia Harris, Nancy Anderson and George S. Irving were in the cast.

Each reading takes place at The Players Club in Gramercy Park. All casting is subject to change.

The obscure 1911 play Fanny's First Play concerns the eccentric Count O'Dowda, who, disgusted with the state of society in England, has packed off to Venice, where he lives as though it were still the 18th century. The Count has also sheltered his daughter Fanny from the world. But when she is sent to Cambridge for schooling, she writes a play. He bows to her wish that it be staged in a private performance by professional actors. Also attending the show are four London critics.

To play the quartet of critics, Staller has recruited the real-life theatre scribes Howard Kissel (The Daily News), Patrick Pacheco (Los Angeles Times), Michael Riedel (New York Post) and Robert Osborne (The Hollywood Reporter). All readings are on Monday at 7 PM, except where otherwise indicated. A current schedule, subject to change, runs as follows:
