Hartford Stage artistic director Michael Wilson stages the work by political journalist Kramer, which will continue through March 20.
Jones (Child's Christmas in Whales, Cocktail Party) plays Soderini with Krohn (Bridge Project's The Cherry Orchard, The Tempest) as Michelangelo, Strauss ("Masada," Top Secret) as da Vinci and Parkinson (Our Town Off-Broadway) as Machiavelli.
According to Hartford Stage, "Leonardo da Vinci. Michelangelo. Machiavelli. Each with a unique agenda in pursuit of personal riches, great art, and immortality through knowledge, innovation and power... This captivating world premiere is inspired by a little known meeting of the Renaissance's three greatest minds and the consequences when art is used as a tool for political and personal ambition."
Divine Rivalry has scenic design by Jeff Cowie, costume design by David Woolard, lighting design by Robert Wierzel and sound design by John Gromada.
