The Italian production of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite is playing this weekend the final performances of its highly successful four-week run at Milan's Teatro Manzoni.
Starring the popular actors Massimo Dapporto and Maria Amelia Monti, Plaza Suite, three one-act plays set in a suite of the famous New York hotel, is directed by Guglielmo Ferro and features sets and costumes by Alberto Verso. The new Italian mounting of the play, which originally opened in New York in 1968, is produced by Rome's Plexus T. in a new translation by Tullio Kezich and Alessandra Levantesi.
Plaza Suite, filmed in 1971 by Arthur Hiller with Walther Matthau and Barbara Harris in the leading roles, is one of the numerous Italian productions of Neil Simon's plays: recent successful mountings include The Prisoner of Second Avenue (again with Massimo Dapporto), The Odd Couple and Barefoot in the Park.
Further information on the Milan tour stop of Plaza Suite is available visiting Milan's Teatro Manzoni website, or calling the box office at +39 2 76.02.543. The show will end its 1997-98 tour at Bergamo's Teatro Donizzetti (Apr. 17-26).
