Tony Award-winning actor Sir Ian McKellen and Dena Hammerstein, the founder of Only Make Believe and the president of James Hammerstein Productions, will light the Empire State Building in purple, blue and yellow Nov. 1 at 11 AM.

The colors are the colors of Only Make Believe, a non-profit organization that creates and performs interactive theatre for children in hospitals and care facilities; the lighting ceremony commemorates Only Make Believe's 11th anniversary. A gala benefit concert will be held Nov. 1 at the Shubert Theatre, hosted by McKellen.

Only Make Believe, which "is dedicated to the principle that freeing a child’s imagination is a valuable part of the healing process," according to notes, was founded by Dena Hammerstein in 1999 in memory of her husband, James Hammerstein.
