News   Slut — Starring Altar Boyz' Andy Karl — Opens Off-Broadway Oct. 1 The new musical Slut, which began previews Sept. 13 at the American Theatre of Actors, officially opens Off-Broadway Oct. 1.

Stephen Sislen and Ben H. Winters' musical, which features direction by Gordon Greenberg, stars Jenn Colella, Mary Faber, Harriett D. Foy, Andy Karl, David Josefsberg, Jim Stanek, Amanda Watkins and Kevin Pariseau. The limited engagement will play through Nov. 13.

Slut, according to production notes, concerns the story of "Adam, a single dude on a life-long quest for one-night stands; his best friend, the brilliant Doctor Dan; and the sexy rocker Delia who comes between them. Set in the East Village and around the world, this highly improbable, irreverent adventure comes with singing, dancing, partying, and raspberry margaritas."

Slut played the New York International Fringe Festival in summer 2003. It was the first show in the festival ever to sell out its entire run before the festival opened.

The creative team for the production includes Beowulf Boritt (scenic design) and Annie Kennedy (costume design). The musical is being presented by James Hammerstein Productions.

Andy Karl, who stars in the musical's title role, was seen on Broadway in Saturday Night Fever and Off-Broadway in Altar Boyz and Saturday Night. He also appeared in the world premiere of Disney's On the Record as well as in the national tour of Cats. Slut plays Tuesday-Friday evenings at 8 PM, Saturdays at 4 and 8 PM and Sundays at 3 and 7 PM. Tickets, priced at $55, are available by calling (212) 239-6200.
