PlayBlog So Anyway, I'm Tweeting The Tony-winning songwriters of Next to Normal will use the show's official Twitter page to inspire the creation of a new song for a character in the popular musical. Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's Tweets include "Tell us which character or characters you want to help us write a song for," "Have you always wanted to hear a duet between two characters who don't have one?" and " Do you wish a certain character got to reveal more of themselves?"

A current poll, which closes Aug. 21, is accepting votes for possible solos and duets for the characters of Henry, Dr. Madden, Natalie and Henry, Dr. Madden and Gabe, and Natalie and Dr. Madden. Kitt and Yorkey will then accept input from fellow Tweeters regarding the lyrics. While there are no plans to incorporate the song into the musical, it will debut at the 92YTribeca on Oct. 28 as part of "On Stage with Next to Normal," with members of the cast and creative team.

This marks the first time a Broadway musical has created a song via the new internet trend. Next to Normal is also the first Broadway production to offer a Twitter version of the show online (the characters "Tweet" their perspectives).
