Classic Arts News Sony BMG Recruiting Young Musicians for Crossover Group Sony BMG is auditioning British teenagers for a new classical crossover group, the Scotsman reports.
The record company placed an ad in the Stage, an industry newspaper, that read, "Are you the next Aled Jones or Charlotte Church? One of the UK's biggest record labels is looking for boys and girls aged 10-14 to form the next classical crossover band."

A number of classically trained youngsters have become stars singing and playing quasi-operatic pop, including Church, a Welsh soprano who scored her first hit at age 12. More recently, Sony BMG signed Joseph McManners, the 12-year-old star of the BBC's film of Rachel Portman's The Little Prince, to a Ô£2 mllion contract, according to the Scotsman.
