The schedule for the week of Sept. 1-7 follows.
Center Stage
Sept. 1: The hit 2008 revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical South Pacific is about to play its 600th performance, and the creators of that production have now readied a second company that's headed out on a year-long national tour that will take it to 28 U.S. cities large and small. Captain of the ship is again Tony-winning director Barlett Sher, who has adapted his stage from the thrust stage at Lincoln Center to the traditional proscenium stages used throughout the country. Playbill Radio spoke to him and with leading lady Carmen Cusack on their plans for the tour. And, as a special treat, Playbill Radio also chatted with Mary Rodgers and Alice Hammerstein, daughters of the show's songwriting team. The ladies were closely involved with getting this production on the stage. That's right: just for the Playbill Radio audience, we've got Rodgers and Hammerstein.
