In an interview for the Lancaster New Era, the young actor says he will play Jesus in the Paper Mill Playhouse's upcoming production of Godspell. The New Jersey theatre is scheduled to present the Stephen Schwartz musical Sept. 20-Oct. 22. No casting has officially been announced for the production, which will be directed by Daniel Goldstein.
Jonathan Groff made his Broadway debut in the short-lived musical In My Life. He played Rolf in the national tour of The Sound of Music and was seen in the North Shore Music Theatre's production of Fame as well as in shows at the Fulton Opera and EPAC. He is currently starring in Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik's Spring Awakening at the Atlantic Theater.
