News Steve Martin to Play Bluegrass Concerts at Joe's Pub Comedian, author and musician Steve Martin will celebrate the release of his second blue grass album, "Rare Bird Alert," with three concert appearances at Joe's Pub in March.

Martin and the bluegrass band the Steep Canyon Rangers, will perform March 15-17 at 7 PM. Martin, who writes and plays banjo, has been on tour with the Rangers over the past year.

"Rare Bird Alert," which will be released March 15, features 13 songs penned by Martin (and two more authored with the Steep Canyon Ranchers), including a live version of "King Tut." The album also features appearances by Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks.

Best known for his roles on screen in "Saturday Night Live," "The Jerk" and "The Father of the Bride," Martin has earned four Grammy Awards for the bluegrass albums "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo," "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and the comedy albums "Wild and Crazy Guy" and "Let’s Get Small." He is also the author of the play Picasso at the Lapin Agile.
