The acclaimed Hartford Stage production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire will return to that theatre July 15-25. The show originally opened Sept. 16, 1998, to rave reviews in the New York Post and New York magazine. The remounting will feature the original cast of Annalee Jefferies as Blanche, James Colby as Stanley, Alyssa Bresnahan as Stella and Robert Clohessy as Mitch. Streetcar returns as part of Hartford Stages' "Summer Stage" series, an initiative by new artistic director Michael Wilson. The series will also feature Rhoda Lerman's Eleanor -- Her Secret Journey, a portrait of former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt starring Jean Stapleton and directed by John Tillinger. Stapleton is currently on the Hartford stage, playing a part in Horton Foote's The Death of Papa, due to run to June 27. Eleanor will run Aug. 13-22.
