Classic Arts News Strike Forces Montreal Symphony Orchestra to Cancel Remainder of Summer Season The remainder of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra's summer season has been canceled due to the ongoing labor dispute between musicians and management.
The orchestra had already been replaced at the Festival de Lanaudire in July, and its appearance at the Mondial choral de Laval was also canceled.

The current announcement covers five concerts in the Mozart Plus Festival, which was to take place June 29-July 27, as well as three Loto-Qu_bec Concerts in the Parks and the Orford Festival on June 30.

In all, 13 concerts have been canceled.

According to a statement from the orchestra, negotiations to settle the strike, which began May 9, resumed on June 7 and will continue through June and July. Patrons who hold tickets for the canceled concerts will be contacted by the orchestra.
