News Technical Glitch Sidelines Spider-Man's Aug. 6 Performance; Musical Resumes With Aug. 7 Matinee The Aug. 6 evening performance of the high-flying Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was cancelled minutes before curtain due to technical difficulties, representatives for the production confirmed to Playbill.com.

"Last night's performance of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark was cancelled due to technical difficulties that were discovered during pre-set," said Rick Miramontez, a spokesperson for the production, in a statement. "The problem has been resolved, and performances of Broadway's most technologically ground-breaking show will resume as scheduled beginning with today's matinee."

A statement on the official blog for the Broadway musical reads, "The producers of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and the Foxwoods Theatre management sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by the cancellation of the performance on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, due to a technical difficulty. Your tickets to this performance will be honored for a future performance of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark."

Any tickets purchased directly through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded. For tickets purchased through all other outlets, theatregoers must contact their point of purchase for a refund.

To exchange for a future performance, theatregoers must hold onto their tickets and contact the box office in the next 14 days. According to the blog, "We will make every effort to accommodate you at your convenience and in a comparable location to the seats you had for this performance. Locations and performance date will be based on availability."

To exchange ticket(s), ticket buyers can go directly to the box office at 213 West 42nd Street or email [email protected] with the performance date and time as the subject in the email. Patrons should include the original ticket location(s) and at least three future performance dates and times that would be convenient. Original tickets are needed in order to obtain replacements. Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark features music and lyrics by Grammy Award winners Bono and The Edge and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, with direction by Taymor and additional direction by Philip William McKinley. Scenic designer George Tsypin and costume designer Eiko Ishioka are winners of Outer Critics Circle Awards and were nominated for Tony Awards for their work on Spider-Man.

Here's how the musical is billed: "Peter Parker's ordinary teenage life takes a turn for the extraordinary when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and suddenly finds himself endowed with incredible superpowers. Parker quickly learns that with great power comes great responsibility as he tries to juggle the demands of high school and home life, while battling the Green Goblin and his band of super villains as they try to take down New York City and destroy everything Peter holds dear – including the beautiful girl-next-door, Mary Jane Watson."
