The acclaimed drama will play the Philadelphia venue Feb. 6-March 8, 2015. Casting will be announced at a later time.

In Mothers and Sons, according to press notes, "a woman pays an unexpected visit to the apartment of her late son's partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. A 2014 Tony Award nominee for Best Play, this eloquent, timely, and intensely resonant play is a moving reflection on a changed America and our ever-evolving understanding of family."

“PTC’s relationship with Terrence McNally goes back 25 years," Garonzik continued, "covering not only the world premiere productions of the Tony Award-winning Master Class, Some Men, Unusual Acts of Devotion, and Golden Age but also the Philadelphia premieres of Love! Valour! Compassion!, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. In 2012, PTC established the Terrence McNally New Play Award which is given annually to a play that celebrates the transformative power of art.”

Philadelphia Theatre Company's upcoming season will also include Lisa D’Amour’s Detroit; the Tony Award-nominated Outside Mullingar by Oscar-winning writer John Patrick Shanley; brownsville song (b-side for tray), a hit of this year's Humana Festival of New American Plays, by rising playwright Kimber Lee; and Joe Kinosian and Kellen Blair's musical whodunit Murder for Two.
