The New York premiere of The Civilians' The Great Immensity officially opens April 24 at the Public Theater following previews that began April 11.

The Great Immensity continues through May 1 in the Martinson Theater.

Written and directed by Steven Cosson with songs by Michael Friedman, the cast features Damian Baldet (Machinal, The Lion King) as Harold, Pete; Cindy Cheung (Sides: The Fear is Real, Middletown) as Allie, Emmanuelle; Dan Domingues (The Cherry Orchard, Cymbeline) as Bonifacio, Marcos, Charlie; Rebecca Hart (Dead City, Vendetta Chrome) as Phyllis; Trey Lyford (Elephant Room, Gone Missing) as Rob, Ship Spotter, Pete; Chris Sullivan (Nice Work If You Can Get It, Lombardi) as Karl; and Erin Wilhelmi (The Great God Pan, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower") as Julie.

Here's how the production is billed: "The Great Immensity is a continent-hopping thriller following a woman, Phyllis, as she pursues her husband Karl who disappeared from a tropical island while on an assignment for a nature show. Through her search, Phyllis uncovers a mysterious plot surrounding the upcoming international climate summit in Paris. As the days count down to the summit, Phyllis must decipher the plan and possibly stop it in time."

The Great Immensity has scenic design by Mimi Lien; costume design by Sarah Beers; lighting design by Jeff Croiter; sound design by Alex Hawthorn, based on the original sound design by Ken Travis; projection design by Jason H. Thompson; and choreography by Tracy Bersley. Andrea Grody is musical director.
