Doug Holsclaw's The Last Hairdresser, winner of Bay Area Critics Circle Awards for best new play and best actor, has opened in Los Angeles for a five-week-only run at the Zephyr Theatre in W. Hollywood.

The Last Hairdresser has been described as a comic deconstruction of the "vicious Queen" and a "gay feud in two acts." The play follows the lives of three boys from summer camp to high school drama class into adulthood where they all meet in a showdown at a rundown beauty school.

Holsclaw is the associate director of Theatre Rhinoceros in San Francisco.

Danny Sheie directs and stars in Hairdresser. The cast includes Brian Beacock, Brian Carpenter, James Kruk, Alexis Lezin, Robert Mackey, Susannah Schulman, Chris Sena and Andy Steinlen.

The Zephyr Theatre is located at 7456 Melrose Ave. Call (323) 857-5657. -- By Willard Manus
