The Lion King, the smash Disney musical scored by Elton John and Tim Rice and directed by Julie Taymor, will reach its 1,000th performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre on March 30. The Lion King began previews on Broadway on Oct. 15, 1997 and opened on Nov. 13 of that year.
The musical is based on the animated cartoon feature of the same name. It won the 1998 Tony Award for best musical.
The song will be heard in Peacock's upcoming event series The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
