News "The Lovely Russell" Churney Will Be Remembered in London Charity Gala The late musician-actor Russell Churney, famously dubbed "the lovely Russell" by Julian Clary, for whom he used to play music both live and in Clary's TV shows, is to be remembered in a concert of friends and colleagues at London's Bloomsbury Theatre on June 29 at 5 PM.

The concert, which is being presented under the name The Lovely Russell, will aid charities including Phoebe Poole and the Roy Kinnear Charitable Trust and The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain. Churney, a composer, pianist, actor and arranger, was also well known for becoming the fourth (and sole male) member of cabaret troupe Fascinating Aida, and for his frequent collaborations with Barb Jungr. Both Fascinating Aida and Jungr, as well as Clary, will be on the bill, along with Kuljit Bhamra, Jenny Carr, Sophia Churney, Buffy Davis, Dolly Dimanond, Abi Grant, The Haddocks, Robb Johnson, Sue Kelvin, Elizabeth Mansfield, Des de Moore, Howard Samuels, Tina C, Sandi Toksvig, Sarah Travis, Mari Wilson and Adrian York.

According to press materials, "this stellar bill features friends, musicians and actors whose paths and Russell's, intertwined. The recipient charities are those with which Russell was personally involved, and all of the participating performers are thrilled to gather to celebrate this composer, pianist, actor and arranger, who was their friend, and who is missed and loved by many."
