Prolific playwright (and sometime actor) Keith Reddin will see his The Perpetual Patient get up and walk away Off Off Broadway at New York Performance Works on Aug. 12, when that production concludes. The mounting began on July 27. Billy Hopkins directs a cast which features Marc Ardito, Linda Halaska, Nile Lanning, Leslie Lyles, Matthew Newton, Tom O'Brien, Ean Sheehy, Matthew Sussman, Anna Thomson and David Thorton.
Reddin is the author of such works as Big Time, The Children's Crusade, The Highest Standard of Living, Rum & Coke and All the Rage. The new work, adapted from Moliere's The Imaginary Invalid, is about a man so obsessed with his symptoms of sickness that his life begins to revolve around doctors, medicine and death.
The Perpetual Patient is produced by an army of companies, including Cold Productions, All Seasons Theatre Company, New York Performance Works and Karen Hauser. (Reddin appeared in All Seasons' production of Warren Leight's Stray Cats.)
Tickets are $12. NY Performance Works is located at 128 Chamber Street. For information, call (212) 566-1500.
