The reclusive film and stage director Ingmar Bergman, who celebrates his 80th birthday this year, has returned to the theatre to direct a play in Stockholm, according to a Reuters report (Feb. 11). The play, The Picture Makers, is by Swedish author Per Olov Enquist and concerns a movie director, a Nobel Prize-winning writer, a photographer and a young actress -- all of whom get together one night for a film screening.
The play is scheduled to be performed Feb. 13-May 31 at Stockholm's Royal Dramatic Theatre.
