PlayBlog The Promo to Phantom of the Opera's 25th Anniversary (Video) The 25th anniversary of the world premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera will be marked with a fully staged production that will play three performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall Oct. 1-2. Featuring a 200-strong company and orchestra, it will star Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess as the Phantom and Christine, who originated the same roles in Lloyd Webber’s Phantom sequel, Love Never Dies, and have also previously played them in Phantom in London and Las Vegas, respectively.

The company will also include Barry James as Monsieur Firman, Gareth Snook as Monsieur André, Liz Robertson as Madame Giry and Wynne Evans as Piangi. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, the production will be directed by Laurence Connor with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne.

The Royal Albert Hall will be transformed with a design by Matt Kinley inspired by Maria Björnson's original design. Lighting is by Patrick Woodroffe and Andrew Bridge and sound by Mick Potter. The original London production was directed by Hal Prince.

The Phantom of the Opera "tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it," according to production notes. "He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command."
