News THE SCREENING ROOM: Steel Magnolias Remake With Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott and More (Video) The trailer has been released for the new television adaptation of Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias, an all African-American production starring Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad and Alfre Woodard, which will debut on Lifetime Television.

Lifetime has not yet announced when the new Steel Magnolias will air, but fans can get a feel for the made-for-television version that is directed by Tony Award nominee Kenny Leon. It is produced by "Smash" producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Sally Robinson ("Iron Jawed Angels") penned the new adaptation.

As previously reported, Latifah ("Hairspray," "Chicago") stars as M'Lynn, with Tony Award winner Rashad (A Raisin in the Sun, Gem of the Ocean) as Clairee, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Woodard (Drowning Crow) as Ouiser, Grammy winner Jill Scott as Truvy, Adepero Oduye as Annelle and Tony nominee Condola Rashad (Stick Fly) as Shelby.
