Best known for penning the books to West Side Story, Gypsy and the screenplay to "The Way We Were," Laurents died at the age of 93 in May 2011.

Among the theatre memorabilia to be auctioned in "The Way He Was" are engraved silver and crystal gifts from cast members and celebrities, as well as awards Laurents earned. Design sketches by Theoni Aldredge and Irene Sharaff, as well as set designs from Laurents' productions are also part of the estate.
American furniture and fine art from Laurents' West Village brownstone will also be auctioned.
The Estate of Arthur Laurents will be auctioned at 11 AM at Roland Auctions, located at 80 East 11th Street.
