The West End production of Les Misérables celebrated its 32nd anniversary October 8 with a burst of confetti onstage as the cast took their bows. The production holds the record for the West End’s longest-running musical.

Watch a video of the celebrations, including a full company rendition of "Happy Birthday," below.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil’s Les Misérables tells a story of broken dreams, love, sacrifice and redemption. The musical, produced by Cameron Mackintosh, has been staged in 44 countries and in 22 languages around the globe, and has been adapted into a feature film.

Following a recent two-and-a-half-year run on Broadway, the show is currently touring the U.S with a new, 25th anniversary staging. Get a glimpse of the production in rehearsals below.
